Cardiovascular Technology

Students begin with general cardiovascular technology (CVT) coursework and then study either the invasive CVT or noninvasive CVT subspecialty. Completing this program fulfills prerequisites to take the Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist exam, or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CCI) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (ARDMS) exam. Career Outlook: The continuing demand for echocardiography technologists and invasive cardiac catheterization technologists indicates strong employment opportunities. The following are also required for admission: A high school diploma or GED One year of high school-level algebra, biology and chemistry (grade of C or higher) Required Natural Science (NATSCI) and Mathematics (MATH) courses must be completed with a grade of C+ or higher in each course.

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
